Evan Leong
  • Director

    Evan Jackson Leong is a documentary filmmaker and narrative director whose work explores identity, resilience, and underrepresented voices. He is best known for directing Linsanity, the Sundance-selected documentary that captured Jeremy Lin’s meteoric rise to the NBA, as well as the award-winning narrative feature Snakehead, which premiered at TIFF. His recent feature doc The Bridge continues his commitment to telling deeply human stories rooted in Asian American experiences and broader cultural intersections. With Dragon Boat, Leong returns to his documentary roots, capturing the power of community, youth, and cross-cultural connection in his hometown of San Francisco.

Josh Chuck
  • Director

    Josh Chuck is a filmmaker and community storyteller dedicated to documenting the histories and struggles of San Francisco’s Chinatown. He co-directed Chinatown Rising, an award-winning feature documentary that chronicles the Asian American movement through the eyes of his father’s photo and film archives, which premiered to acclaim at CAAMFest and screened widely across the U.S. With a background in community organizing and a passion for intergenerational storytelling, Josh’s work bridges past and present to highlight resilience in immigrant communities. His most recent film, Making Waves: The Rise of Asian America, shares inspirational stories of youth around the country who are fighting for inclusion of Asian American and Ethnic Studies in their curriculum, premiered at SXSW EDU. In Dragon Boat, Chuck continues to focus on the next generation, exploring how youth, identity, and teamwork can offer long-term solutions to today’s challenges.
